Fashion/Advertisement in PhotographyI would be shooing for Adidas and The North Face.

I like how perfectly lit this photo is while it still isn’t overbearing at all. It also makes the viewer center their attention around the details of the garments.  I love the use of the plants and various projections of light instead of using one or an even lighting scheme.

I really like how most of these details seem distracting however your attention always comes back to the stylish subject.

“Joiners”

Reflection of Hockey’s work

To me, the most eye catching aspect of this image is the white space at the bottom that makes this photo appear constructed out of pieces. The white also contrasts heavily with the darker tones of the upper image of the tree in the street. The leading lines of the tree vertically also signified to me how this image uses the rule of thirds to present itself more easily to the viewer. Most of the lines from the various squares line-up and divide the image seamlessly. I think that through Hockey’s joiner work we can see how every image we see it truly made up of smaller aspects to come together to form the whole image. These joiners reflect more of where the human perception will focus on and enlarging these emphasized areas while overlapping areas that are perceivably unimportant.

Keith Haring favorite work

This piece by Keith Haring shows a man with 3 pairs of legs or pants that progressively get larger. This piece reminded me of a Russian doll that like has a bunch of the exact same doll in one just progressively getting smaller. I think this work was trying to communicate that people have layers to them. I think Keith Haring was trying to also say that the real you is hidden behind layers. I guess the overall message of the piece is to never take things literally and look for a deeper side to find someone’s true nature.

TED Talk Reflection

Erik Johansson specializes in photography that is impossible to take without editing. He initially felt that photography felt entirely based around being at the right time taking the right angle. Everything that leads up to and getting that shot was all their was too it. Johansson wanted to make the true process of photography occur after that shot was taken. By doing this, Johannsson retains photo realism with an impossible picture. So now Johannsson, is able to shift the focus from being at the right place at the right time, to capturing the right idea and shaping your image after.

Johannsson argues that the illusion is dependent on how we view the world. It doesn’t matter what is realistic, it’s more important it matches what we think it is, regardless of it’s true definition. Johannsson explains that we trick our brains with illusions to understand a mix of realities that we cannot accept as confusion. What creates realism in his mix of photography is his combination of the elements that most find insignificant, like color, shapes, angles, and detail that stays consistent enough that when these photos are mixed, the mixed elements come together to create something realistic yet impossible.

Erik Johansson claims there are three main rules to follow to obtain realistic results. The first rule is the the perspective or angle must be the same or similar enough so the subjects can come together more consistently. Secondly. the lighting must be the same in both images. Lastly, you must integrate these images so it is impossible to distinguish when one image begins and the other ends. They must connect together seamlessly.

Favorite work of SANDY SKOGLUND

I find Sandy Skoglund’s work to be visually pleasing as the contrasting colors are easy to make-out and differentiate. I find the subject and colored objects to be intriguing and unique. Sandy Skoglund’s style is bright, contrasting, and intriguing. Typically her foreground or background is dull in color, more often grey and white tones. Against this foreground, Skoglund’s places vibrant and neon colored subjects. Or vice versa, a bright background like the image provided, and a contrasting darker subject.

INDEED JOB SEARCH

Photographer – Newborns, Toddlers & Families (San Bernardino, CA 92376)

I do almost qualify for this job in a month because I’ll have my California Drivers License by then and that is the half of the requirement. However, I do not have one year experience photographing babies so they will not likely hire me due to my lack of experience. That would be on the only thing I need to get this job I’m interested in.

Social and political issues in art

I feel that you should stand up to bullying by being the change you wish to see. My argument is against bullying. I was influenced by my girlfriend who I often bully. The “flip side” of this issue is that cyber-bullying and bullying in general will likely always exists and as much as people advocate for people to be the change. I’m not sure if there is another side that advocates for bullying so I don’t believe I can see their view though perhaps people want bullying to exist so that people are able to grow and mature. I chose my standing on bullying because I my girlfriend believes bullying was a major issue and heavily influenced her growing up whereas I was a bully and know that there’s alternative actions I could’ve taken. My artwork is not meant to offend. I feel this project gets it’s point across effectively as it is straightforward. The focal point is in the image of the laptop, the guy sitting down hunched over, and the word BULLY.

DSLR CAMER AND LENS PPT – 25 facts

  1. DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex/
  2. DSLR cameras resemble 35mm film cameras.
  3. DSLR often have fixed lenses.
  4. Prime lenses are lenses that can’t be changed in zoom.
  5. Zoom lenses do change the amount of zoom manually.
  6. Kit lenses are lenses that are capable of some small zoom and aperture changes.
  7. Focal lengths change depending on the subject and what the targeted depth of field is.
  8. Focal length can change how distorted and focused the camera is.
  9. AF on a camera lens means the camera will automatically focus.
  10. MF means that you must manually change the focus.
  11. ISO is the film or digital screens sensitivity to light.
  12. Higher ISO are needed for darker scenes.
  13. Lighter ISO are needed when more sunlight is exposed to the camera like shooting in sunlight.
  14. ISO also shows more or less grain. Also helps in capturing sharp images.
  15. Shutter speed determines how quickly the shutter closes and determines how long light will enter the camera.
  16. Shooting with less than 1/60th of a second requires a stand.
  17. Shutter speed also determines how sharp an image appears or how blurry it is.
  18. Aperture is the hole in the lens and determines as-well how much light goes into the digital screen. the smaller the hole the larger the number and the smaller the number the larger the hole.
  19. Aperture also changes how focused and shallow the depth of field becomes with perspectives and range.
  20. Having too high of an ISO causes the photo to become grainy.
  21. Having too low a shutter speed makes things too blurry.
  22. A too high aperture places everything in focus or too high of an aperture captures the focus of one thing too much.
  23. White balance adjusts how colors look. This can be cold or warm or even white and black.
  24. The different shooting modes on a camera aid in automatic processes to help the photographer only focus on certain elements instead of everything being manual.
  25. M stands for manual and allows the photographer to control everything while modes like AF only allow you to change the aperture.

Double Exposure

Reflection highlighting some reasons I would like to work in the field of photography.

I would like to become a photographer because you can do what you love, still make a good living, and are able to create countless memories for people to look back at. Photography allows you to travel without having to rely on a facility or place just a camera is needed. Also, there is a big demand for photographer and videographers because of the internet.  You’re also able to live your life as you want to as you don’t have to stick to any schedule as you make your own and essentially boss yourself. You can also branch into different fields like photographers to videographers and eventually working in big movies and making loads of more money.

  1. Aperture is the hole in the lens that determines the amount of light entering the camera. The ISO is the sensitivity of the camera to the light and the shutter speed determines the speed of the shutter.
  2. You would need to change your ISO according to the lighting presented.
  3. Aperture and shutter priority means that the selected mode will have you manually change the aperture or shutter speed while the other settings do so automatically.
  4. AF modes are focus mode on how many photos are taken and how they are taken, this can be changed via the nob at the top or in the software settings.
  5. You need to meter the light because it helps find the optimal or more appealing composure.
  6. White balance is how much color is shown, essentially dictating saturation.
  7. Depth of field is how focus or blurry things are in a photo. Good depth of field has everything clear and in focus and shallow depth of field has everything or everything but one thing blurry and out of focus.
  8. Drive modes and metering modes digitally change the focus of the photo to be show in a certain pattern or format.
  9. Exposure compensation is a +/- scale that increases or decreases exposure.
